Malta Permanent Residence Programme (MPRP)
A popular program for non-EU nationals allowing permanent residence in Malta through property investment and government contributions.
Benefits:
Visa-free travel - Maltese permanent residents can visit other Schengen countries without visas. The visa-free stay is up to 90 out of 180 days.
Long-term status - Investors obtain permanent residency that is valid for life. Only an ID card must be renewed every 5 years.
May include up to 4 generations - Investors’ spouses, children, parents, and grandparents can become Maltese permanent residency under one application.
Tax residency - Spending over 183 days a year in Malta makes investors tax residents. The tax system may be attractive, but permanent residency alone offers no special tax benefits.
Backup Plan - Investors become Maltese residents without the need to live in the country. They can buy or rent property, open a bank account, study, get treated, and use Malta as a safe haven.
Requirements
Main applicant must proove assets of 500 000 euros out of which 150 000 in finance or 650 000 euros with 75 000 in finance
Make real estate investment in the form either
Purchasing property with minimum value of 300 000OR
Renting property with minimum annual value of 10 000
Property must be held for a minimum period of 5 years. Those who buy property can rent it out when they are not in Malta.
Make a non-refundable contribution of 37 000 to Maltese government
Make donation of 2000 to local NGO registered with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations
Administration fees of 60 000 includes spouse and minor dependants. For each additional adult dependant is 7 500 paid
Successful applicants will be required to finish the qualifying investments, after passing rigorous due diligence tests in order to receiving a residency permit.
Nomad Residence PermitDesigned for remote workers who wish to live in Malta while working for employers or clients outside the country.
Valid for 1 year and renewable up to 3 times

Tax optimisation - Nomads get a 12-month income tax exemption. After that, a flat 10% rate applies to authorised work
EU benefits - Nomads and their families can study and receive treatment in Malta or other Schengen states for up to 90 days.

No criminal records
Non-EU and non-EEA citizen
Not a citizen of a restricted country, such as Afghanistan, Iran, or Syria
Remote work: an employee of a foreign company, a director of a company registered outside Malta, a freelancer, or a self-employed
Income of at least €3,500 per month, or €42,000 per year
Have a residential property in Malta
Have valid health insurance covering Malta
Global Residence Programme (GRP)
A Tax Residence Programme for non-EU, non- EEA and non- Swiss nationals
Initially valid for one year, renewable every two years.

Tax optimisation - A flat tax rate of 15% for all income remitted to Malta.
No tax in Malta will be charged on income from outside Malta that is not received in Malta.

Application fee: approximately €6,000 (or €5,500 for property in Gozo/South Malta)

The Malta Tax Residence Programme is designed for EU, EEA, and Swiss nationals who wish to establish tax residence in Malta
Validity
The special tax status can be maintained annually, provided the applicant continues to meet the programme requirements and pays the minimum tax.
Benefits
15% flat tax rate on foreign income remitted to Malta
No tax will be charged for income that has been generated and received outside of Malta
In regards to capital gains, no tax would be chargeable in Malta even if the capital gains are received in Malta, and realized outside.
Access to Malta’s extensive double taxation treaty network

Purchase or rent qualifying property in Malta - Purchase of at least: €275,000 in Malta or €220,000 in Gozo, South Malta
